Although Tugboat Island is going to be located on Port Neches city property, we are committed to rebuilding an exciting new venue for childhood entertainment, exercise and education that everyone in the neighboring communities can enjoy, like we had for over 25 years with the first Tugboat park.
Community-built projects inspire everyone who participates with a sense of ownership, so much so that they become a focus of community life. People describe them as the experience of a lifetime. Families who helped build will return for picnics and bring out-of-town guests to show them what the community accomplished together.
It takes a LOT of hands to construct a community-built playground.
We need all types of volunteers:
Skilled Volunteer
You don’t have to be a carpenter but must be comfortable with a circular saw.
Un-Skilled Volunteer
If you are uncomfortable with carpentry or construction, WE STILL NEED YOU! We have many important tasks on-site: sanding, shoveling, childcare, food preparation, assisting carpentry jobs, or in the art tent.

Captains will oversee work crews and maintain the quality of the structure. They must enjoy working with people, willing and physically able to be on site for all days of construction, be organized, and flexible.
